WK 2 Wimba

Screenshot of Week 2 Wimba Session
Week 2 Wimba went into the basic definitions and understanding of the copyright laws. As a way to help remember how the copyright laws work we were given a little quiz and talked a little about each of them. If you don’t have permission to use it it’s a violation of the copyright laws, no matter where you got it or how you use it.

Dwayne mentioned a movie having to do with Girl Talk an artist that was featured on Good Copy Bad Copy in another documentary having to do with the same copyright issues called RIP Remix manifesto.

I really like the idea Professor Bustillo stated of paying an additional charge or fee when purchasing a song from iTunes to use it in ways that are not for profit. Great idea.

One thing that was mentioned in the Wimba session that I was absolutely shocked by is that putting a movie on in class is a copyright violation. I could not believe this.

On another note, I completely agree digital versions of a book should be less than the actual physical item. I have to quite honestly say that I really would rather read the physical book then reading an electronic copy of it. I really enjoyed the book we are reading for this course and decided to order the paperback at Amazon for an amazing price.

  1. thanks for reviewing the archive. I have been purchasing my books as e-books since getting my first iPad two years ago and love that I have access to whatever I want... but I have to admit that i've been tempted to get one of the kindle devices because they are just a bit more like holding a paperback. But I love that I can read my magazines with the same quality and layout as the paper version, plus they often add animations and videos that you don't get with the paper versions. It's all good and we are lucky to live in amazing times.
